Paintings

In my early days of studying art I traveled to several countries, especially Italy, where I looked at hundreds of frescoes on the walls. The way they adhered to the walls, textured layers flaking off, with subtle and bold colors, how they created a space within the room haunted with religious or mundane images intrigued me.
My latest paintings are homage to that time. They are made of art plaster that creates relief images on wood. The colors are created with oil sticks that I rub into
the surface with my hands, and then sand and color again. In this way, images start to reappear underneath in a ghost-like fashion. I love the ghosts!
